Julius Blum GmbH transfers manual InDesign documents and their individual components to the PIM system from crossbase

Höchst/Bregenz, 17/10/2012: Julius Blum GmbH is a market-leading sub-supplier to the furniture industry. It employs more than 5,400 people and has a turnover of 1.26 billion euros, making it one of the largest companies in Vorarlberg/Austria. With a history spanning 50 years, Blum is now a global company manufacturing systems with hinges, flaps and drawers, mainly for kitchens.

Central functions of the solution

The crossbase solution at Blum

For more than 10 years, Blum has been using the PIM, MAM and cross-media solution from crossbase to enrich item master data from the ERP system with product information suitable for marketing and to automate various communication channels. This includes for example the proven DVD product catalog DYNACAT, the product online information system (POIS), the marketing online information system (MAIS) and the product catalog spanning over 700 pages which Blum produces for more than 25 countries. The final element of the solution is a linked translation process and the output of electronic catalogs in BMEcat format for trading partners.

New requirement

Alongside the product catalog, Blum has many creative brochures. In the past, these were produced independently of the PIM, MAM and cross-media solution by external agencies or in-house with Adobe InDesign and translated afterwards. The manual process was very time-consuming and needed optimizing.
