The crossbase PIM, MAM and cross-media solution for use at Schöck

In particular, the language/land concept and the data maintenance of very many design data with matrix maintenance convinced me of crossbase…. The time required for the initial production of the TI with crossbase was initially about the same as for the manual update in Adobe InDesign. Handling has improved for other print publications and country variants, as a high level of content reusability is possible.

Dr. Katharina Leitner
Technical support, Schöck Bauteile GmbH

Baden-Baden (Steinbach), 11.02.2013: Schöck Bauteile GmbH is part of the Schöck group, a leading international supplier of innovative building solutions, headquartered in Baden-Baden, Germany. It has received numerous awards and is, globally, one of the market leaders in the field of insulation and soundproofing. Schöck Bauteile GmbH selected crossbase's PIM and cross-media solution to automate its technical information, give Schöck employees access to the PIM media database and to provide data for the product configuration software.

Central functions of the solution

SAP interface and data maintenance

Via the SAP system data interface, all sales items with product features and prices are imported into the PIM system. To maintain the more than 600,000 rating values, including standard, country and concrete quality, a matrix dialog was individually programmed for efficient and compact maintenance. Images, formulas, documents and texts with country-specific codes are maintained in an editorial structure to depict market- and media-specific product views.

Automation of print production and translation

This includes country-specific technical information (29 countries and 34 languages) for the target groups of structural analysts and architects and the price lists. These publications are produced automatically via crossbase and Adobe InDesign with the country variants being controlled via the catalog range and country-specific evaluation of media and text elements. Automation of the complex pages is the main highlight of this solution. The rating tables are compressed and depicted in 3D (concrete coverage, strength and height). The elements on the page are positioned using displacement rules. Editors can use the preview server to produce a preview even if InDesign is not installed locally. Through the use of highly-flexible layout templates, it was possible to complete all of the technical information with only four layout templates.
