Requirements for a PIM system in the translation sector

As internationalization increases, so do the requirements for translation. A powerful PIM system creates the basis for precisely recording translation requirements and managing content in a targeted manner. This allows everyone involved - from translators and proofreaders to product managers - to work together efficiently and adapt product information to specific countries.

The professional translation and localization of content is a key success factor for internationally active companies. In order to work efficiently, translation requirements must be determined in a targeted manner - this is the only way to avoid translating content multiple times and thus incurring unnecessary costs. A central aspect is the coordination of all translation and correction processes: With a PIM system, orders can be clearly managed, distributed and tracked - both for external agencies and for internal country branches.

Translators benefit from the integration of modern tools such as translation memories (TMS), defined terminology and layout context to ensure consistent and high-quality translations. Simple, web-based access to the content is required for proofreading and approval in the target countries, ideally also with a layout preview. Product managers in the subsidiaries can also use suitable tools to localize centrally maintained content and add country-specific information - efficiently, in a structured manner and on a user-friendly interface.

"The integration of content from crossbase into environments such as SDL Trados or Across works smoothly. crossbase has its finger on the pulse of all topics that are important for crossbase customers when it comes to translation."

Advantages in translation

Comprehensive translation management for all languages

The translation requirement is determined precisely for each language, so that time and costs are minimized. Translation jobs can be exported and then checked and corrected online. The progress and status of all jobs is clearly displayed in a dashboard.

Check and correct translations online

With a modern web interface, country offices can check and correct translations. A preview of the print layout for print publications also reduces correction runs to a minimum.

Improving translation quality with terminology

With the terminology, technical terms can be used consistently in the editorial process. With the help of an interface for Trados Multiterm or Across crossTerm, the terms can also be provided and translated for external employees and partners.
