Central functions of the solution

Connection of Shopify with the API server

In order to be able to introduce a new e-commerce system in a timely manner, the choice fell on Shopify. On the one hand, this store solution offers a large and sophisticated range of functions, and on the other hand, it can be easily populated with data from crossbase's PIM system via API connection. For this purpose, product data in the form of XML texts, attributes, image data, documents, etc. are transferred from the PIM to the Shopify system using the existing Shopify API and are synchronized and updated nightly. As a result, customers always receive up-to-date product information from the PIM system when selecting products.

Connection configuration details

For the setup, the Shopify API was accessed with different endpoints. For product information matching and delta checking, the Shopify ID was transferred to crossbase's PIM system.

Inherited product data (e.g. attribute assignments) are combined for data transfer. The attribute assignments that are the same for all items in an product group are output as list text for the product group. The differing assignments, on the other hand, are listed as "options" to the matching items in the group.

Navigation is built manually by Weyland Steiner in the Shopify system. The products from the PIM system are then dynamically sorted into the navigation structure during matching using "keywords" (designation texts of the marketing structure nodes at which the product is referenced).
