Central functions of the solution

The solution: crossbase CMS for website, online catalog and tool finder

Like the existing LEUCO website, the online catalog and tool finder use direct access to the mirrored PIM database, so that no interfaces are necessary. All online modules are seamlessly integrated into the CMS platform, i.e. website, online catalog and tool finder are generated from an integrated system. Content and layout can thus be used consistently:

  • The customer-specific requirements for the presentation of content, e.g. images, texts, downloads, features, in the various selection and information pages can be flexibly configured on the basis of the existing data structures in the PIM.
  • Styles, scripts and templates can be used uniformly for all online modules. Thanks to the responsive layout, the online catalog can be used optimally on different devices from smartphone to tablet to desktop.

Search options: tool finder, tool type or full-text search

The LEUCO online catalog offers various ways of quickly finding the product you need:

  • Tool finder: The tool finder is the core of the online catalog. Users can quickly and easily narrow down the items in a search by feature. For example, the user can search by the material to be processed, e.g. insulating panels, or the tool, e.g. a horizontal panel saw, to view all items that match the search criteria. The results can also be dynamically filtered by product features, e.g. cutting width. This makes it possible to find the optimum product for a given task.
  • Tool type: Using the tool type search, the user can navigate through the catalog by chapter, e.g. circular saw blades, and sub-chapter, e.g. panel-cutting circular saw blades, to find individual items and thus get an overall picture of the complete tool range. The display of the current item is supported by breadcrumb navigation. The left-hand navigation bar also shows how many items are available in the current branch. This is very similar to the existing printed catalog. In addition, however, the user can switch to the tool finder and dynamically limit the number of currently available items.
  • Full-text search: The user can go straight to the desired item by entering the item number. If only a part of an item number is entered, all the results are shown in a selection list along with a picture of the item and the complete item number. The user can then click on any item to view it.

Useful functions: Visualisation of product features, item comparison and data sheet function

The following functions are available to make product selection easier:

  • Visualisation of product features: To chart the meaning of product features quickly and effectively, in many places these features are visualized with pictograms and explained in hints and a table and image legend that can be shown or hidden as required.
  • Item comparison function: To allow tools to be compared, items can be added to an item comparison and conveniently viewed side by side in a table. Here the user can also view individual items directly, remove items from the comparison or place them in the shopping cart.
  • Data sheet function: In the Download tab, a PDF data sheet can be generated from the current page in any part of the site. The product information is formatted with style sheets for print or PDF output. This allows pages of the online catalog to be made available offline or printed out as required.

Shop functions: Enquiry with and without registration

Finally, a price enquiry can be created for the selected products in the shopping cart. This is possible both with and without explicit registration.

However, registering has the advantage that when you submit another enquiry, your contact details are already stored and you can also add comments to all your enquiries and manage them in an enquiry manager. This allows you to submit a previous enquiry again, for example, with just a few clicks.
