crossbase media service for PB Swiss Tools

Initial situation

PB Swiss Tools' media service was originally based on a simple download area within the website and was not suitable for the optimal provision of media elements. In order to implement a modern, integrated media service, a solution was needed that would provide all externally available media files in an up-to-date and centralized manner while ensuring user-friendly operation on all end devices.

Procedure

By using the Content Management System (CMS) and the Product Information Management System (PIM) from crossbase, the media service is fully integrated. All crossbase functionalities, such as the translation process and internal media asset management (MAM), can be used without any problems.

The previous download area on the website has been replaced by the modern media service, which features a responsive design for optimized display on all end devices such as desktop, tablet and smartphone. In addition to German, English is also available. The product information is always up to date without the need for additional interfaces.

Images, videos and documents are provided via the crossbase media service and available formats and detailed information are offered for each media element. Images can be displayed in an enlarged view and videos can be played directly in the browser. If required, the desired format can be downloaded directly or added to a watch list. The user then has the option of downloading the files individually or collectively in a ZIP archive.

The desired media elements can be found using a full-text search with auto complete function and a categorizing structure as well as various other filters. The available filters limit each other on the basis of the current result set, so that there is always at least one hit for each filter search.

Registered users can be assigned further authorizations after a check by PB Swiss Tools. This allows them to access a more extensive pool of media files as well as product information on the media elements.

For users without access to protected areas, an individual watch list can also be compiled and made available for a defined period of time via a download link. This means that individual requests can be dealt with efficiently and flexibly.

Result

The new media service makes it possible to provide all PB Swiss Tools product information and media files centrally and always up to date. Thanks to a clear and user-friendly structure, users can now access the desired content efficiently and flexibly, save it in a watch list or download it.
