crossbase API server in use at Lamello

Lamello uses the crossbase API server for seamless data transfer. The product information is maintained centrally in the crossbase PIM system and fed directly into the website's content management system via a nightly update. The high-quality and always up-to-date data significantly supports customers' purchasing decisions.

Initial situation

Lamello was faced with the challenge of managing its content efficiently and consistently for the website. Previously, a separate content management system led to duplicate maintenance effort and unused data potential, as the product information from the database was not reused. The crossbase API server was implemented to optimize this process.


Procedure

The central navigation points "Products" and "Solutions" are organized directly in the crossbase database. Within the marketing structure in the database, all products and application examples are referenced to the respective position. The API server delivers the requested data from the crossbase database to the CMS.


An intuitive product finder allows users to find the desired products quickly and specifically. A faceted search is available to them, which facilitates product selection based on categories, product properties and suitable material thicknesses. Alternatively, products can be found using the full-text search based on keywords or, if known, the article number. Filter options are also available to further narrow down the search by connection type, system or product family.


The products on the website are presented comprehensively, with properties, technical details, descriptive texts, images, videos, technical drawings, CAD data and associated articles. A drop-down menu also enables the selection of specific product variants. In addition to recommended retail prices in the respective national currency including VAT, customer reports showing the product in practical use are also linked. From these reports, the user can return directly to the products presented, which enables seamless navigation.


The planning and processing partner section is a special feature. This forms a small database of its own, so to speak, in which users can access an overview of the machines and software solutions from Lamello partners that can be used.
