Automated production manuals at WALSER

The production manuals from WALSER structure all production-relevant information in a PDF file. Print production with the existing crossbase.pim solution has created an efficient and automated process that not only saves time, but also ensures the quality and consistency of the content.

"When it came to replacing the system for creating our production manuals, crossbase was the obvious choice. After all, the PIM solution was already in use at Walser. Together we developed an optimal solution and we are extremely satisfied with the implementation and the result."

Initial situation

WALSER's production manuals bundle all the important information about a product, including product images, texts, materials, colors, labels, assembly, packaging and cardboard packaging. These are supplemented by production-relevant details such as dimensions, sewing instructions and folding instructions.

Previously, a separate program was used for the creation. With the decision to replace this program, implementation with crossbase was the obvious choice, as it was already being used as a PIM system.

Procedure

All product information is managed in the crossbase.pim system. In order to map the content of the production manuals, a separate structure was created within the crossbase database at WALSER. On the one hand, existing content from the database is referenced in this structure. On the other hand, specific information is created and added that is used exclusively in the production manuals and is not contained in the regular product structure. A layout template was developed for the automated creation of the manuals. This allows the production manuals to be exported as a PDF file via crossbase.office at the touch of a button.

Result

By using the crossbase solution, the production manuals can now be created automatically. The entire process is fully integrated into the crossbase environment, eliminating the need for additional software. All information is managed centrally, resulting in consistent data and high quality. At the same time, the automation enables significant time savings in the creation of manuals. The solution also offers flexibility, as it can be adapted to specific requirements. Tight integration into the crossbase environment ensures a seamless process that can be quickly expanded as required.

The advantages of the solution

  • Elimination of additional software through full integration
  • Minimized administrative effort
  • Faster and consistent creation of manuals
  • High data quality thanks to central administration
  • Personal contact at crossbase for individual questions
