Translation management

The crossbase translation process – fluent in all languages

Product communication can be made available rapidly in all markets with a standardized, database-driven translation process. The translation can be carried out directly in the crossbase database, externally at an agency or in the national company. Each text is given a status so that it is always clear whether it is in translation and whether it has been checked.

Translation workflow

With crossbase, content can be created and managed for all countries and languages. All language/country specific texts and media files can be versioned. They are monitored using a proven translation workflow and text status. The exact untranslated text can thus be determined and the time and cost of translation significantly reduced.

Tools for internal translators

With the tools integrated in crossbase, all texts in the PIM system can be translated. Text versions can be compared and their changes displayed in color. Existing translations, e.g. from a terminology database, can also be taken into account. For short texts, a tabular mass translation is offered. The workflow module also allows the translator to filter texts that have not yet been translated.

Comprehensive internationalization

All desired languages can be mapped using Unicode and OpenType fonts. Since the texts are stored in XML format, structuring and formatting are retained throughout the translation workflow.

Language and country prioritization

With crossbase, country-specific languages with minor deviations from the main language can be managed simply and efficiently. Not all language-country variants, but only the specific deviations, have to be kept available. With this concept, up to 98% of such translation volume can be avoided.

Reduce untranslated text

Recurring text modules can be used several times and must therefore only be created and translated once. This ensures a uniform language, avoids duplication of work and leads to a considerable reduction in translation costs.

Determine untranslated text

The texts to be translated can be restricted to specific publications or output media. The untranslated text is determined exactly before the export. Only texts without translations and texts marked for resubmission are exported.

TMS and Excel interface

Translation jobs are exported in XML/XLIFF format or in Excel format and can be imported into translation systems such as across, SDL Trados or Excel. The translation requirement is determined exactly, so that only texts with missing translations and the status "resubmission" are taken into account. In the case of print publications, the corresponding PDF documents can also be exported and linked as a visual translation aid.

Connection of AI-based translation

By connecting services such as DeepL or Google Translate, which use artificial intelligence for understanding and translating texts, texts can be quickly and easily pre-translated and conveniently edited afterwards.
