Product database

Features, relationships and views – the flexible product data module

Product data is mapped very differently in each company. By installing the standard software solution, crossbase can map the widest variety of different requirements exactly and thus provide the appropriate data module in each case.

Therefore, products can be displayed in the broadest range of views, e.g. in the ERP system in a controlling view, in marketing in a customer-oriented view, etc., as well specifically for market and target groups. Product relationships can also be managed simply, so that the respective product accessories are also displayed at the same time in the online shop, for example.

The crossbase database is extremely flexible: all settings can be freely defined by the administrator. and new requirements can be implemented immediately by configuring the product data model with the interface. To optimize data maintenance you can define mandatory fields and use inheritance functions.

Main module

Module description

The item master data in the ERP system is generally insufficient for customer-oriented, market- and media-specific product communication. Product features are therefore added, a marketing view is created or product relationships are maintained for spare parts, accessories and recommended products. To optimize data maintenance you can use mandatory fields and inheritance functions.

Product features

Product features can be used to give the products structured descriptions, for example, to enable a dynamic filter search in the online shop or so that product tables can be generated automatically for printed catalogs. The product features can be classified to maintain a clear structure.

Product views

Products are displayed within the company in different views: e.g. in the ERP system in a controlling view, in design in a function view, in marketing in a customer-focused view (as a navigational structure for online media or as a publication structure for print publications) and for trading partners in different classification views such as ecl@ss, ETIM, UNSPSC or profiCl@ss. crossbase integrates all of the views in one database.

Product relationships

Typical product relationships are spare parts lists, accessories, sets, product recommendations and successor items. These are maintained in part in the ERP or PDM system, but are usually incomplete. In crossbase, relationship types can be defined and the relationships between the products can be maintained, e.g. as an item-item relationship. Data maintenance can be item-oriented (n items to 1 item) or take the form of bulk maintenance (n items to m items) and is thus significantly simpler than in the ERP system.

Optional modules

If the task in hand involves selecting more complex products requiring further explanation, intelligent selection aids are required that guide users to the perfect product via specific tasks. Two versions of the crossbase configurator are available: As a product configurator, to determine item variants via rules on product features (and/or/not, nestable). Or as an application configurator to receive product solutions for defined tasks.

Customized structure

The crossbase database can be flexibly expanded with additional structures, for example to represent market-specific sales channels, application relationships, other product hierarchies, media structures and so on.
