crossbase.data: The flexible data hub for electronic catalogs and individually configurable Excel exports

crossbase.data is the data module for portals, marketplaces and shops. Your e-commerce experts can individually configure electronic catalogs for trading partners and provide them in classified form.

With crossbase.data, your team members in sales, IT or marketing can create electronic catalogs in just a few steps.

The e-commerce cycle starts with the ERP system. The ERP system passes the item master data to the crossbase database. Media files and texts of relevance to marketing are added in the PIM system and mapping to the classifications is undertaken. A catalog is put together according to the requirements for the specific customer and the corresponding format is produced with the image data required for portals and trading partners.

Since the structure for XML formats can be configured flexibly, crossbase works with a very wide range of formats and classifications.

Key functions

Mapping classifications

Trading partners sometimes want product data in standard classifications such as eCl@ss. To fulfil this requirement, classification mapping should first be carried out with crossbase.pro.

Electronic catalogs for provision of data

Electronic catalogs are organized according to a particular structure. For instance, a catalog might be organized by market, customer, format, or chronologically. Once the catalog has been created and named, the catalog range is created. The catalog range is a list of all relevant items, that is the product range. Each catalog can then be assigned an appropriate format and individual format mapping to the database content. In other words, an electronic catalog contains the list of items you want to export and the defined format, e.g. BMEcat.

Excel configurator

The Excel configurator allows the user to put together individual Excel exports to export product information from the PIM system for a defined catalog range. The required content is selected in a series of user-friendly dialogs, so even non-experts can configure and perform a complex export in a few easy steps. Every configuration can be saved. Any information stored in the database may be exported. This information is divided into various categories.

  • Structural information, e.g. product hierarchies
  • Attributes, e.g. EAN numbers or dimensions
  • Price attributes, e.g. gross price / packaging unit
  • Images or documents, e.g. product photos
  • Text, e.g. product description
  • Relationship types, e.g. accessories

Exporting data

Data can be exported manually or automatically at certain times. To do this the settings can be saved in an export configuration and initiated periodically. The system will generate an XML file and a folder containing the media files. The XML file can be archived in the database if required.

Advanced functions

Delta exports

It is often easier for external systems if they only receive modified product data – what is known as a delta export. The last data export is archived and compared with the new data export and the changes are evaluated.
