Böblingen 12/05/2015: Mobile end devices, e.g. the Apple iPad, have become commonplace in the business-to-business sector and are ideal for sales dialogs. crossbase's Adobe DPS solution is an integrated solution, which is especially suited to creative presentations and can be viewed on tablets with the Adobe Content Viewer App. In-house graphic designers can generate what are known as "items" in the usual way using Adobe InDesign. crossbase supports this process with the tablet publishing module based on crossbase.print, which is seamlessly incorporated in the existing software and, on request, automates the complete process from layout to synchronization on mobile devices.

Numerous new layout rules in the crossbase layout editor enable digital publishing with Adobe InDesign. For example, there are rules for videos, audio files, slide shows, image sequences, web content, rotating and zooming, hyperlinks, multi-state objects, buttons for control and navigation elements. Graphic designers can therefore use all objects and functions available in InDesign and access media and text elements from the database – so there are no limits on how crossbase's change and translation management can be used.

WNT uses Adobe Digital Publishing Suite (DPS) to organize field services. Sales documents, such as technical information, product / company presentations, service and product know-how are produced as digital publications in folio format with crossbase.

These publications are then shared with field staff via crossbase.print on mobile end devices and displayed in a branded content viewer app. This allows WNT sales documents to be updated continuously.

Summary

  • Automatic creation of InDesign documents from crossbase.print with media files and texts from the crossbase image database
  • Automatic generation of the folio format from Adobe InDesign documents
  • Automatic synchronization process with the Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Distribution and continuous updating of the app on mobile end devices via Adobe distribution service

As an alternative to using crossbase.layout, DPS documents, produced with standard InDesign tools, can be uploaded and distributed to various portals via the upload module from crossbase.print.

The first step is to import the manually created documents into the database using drag & drop. The process of synchronization with the Adobe Creative Cloud is then started using the crossbase.print DPS upload module. This process greatly reduces the amount of manual work involved: crossbase automatically produces the folio format in the necessary language variants and automatically uploads to the Adobe server. SD and HD formats are produced automatically and the folios distributed to the portals (e.g. Apple Store, Google Play).

Summary

  • Manual production of Adobe InDesign documents and DPS folios
  • Use of the DPS upload module in crossbase.print
  • Automatic generation of SD/HD (standard density and high density) formats
  • Upload of multilingual folios and automatic splitting of language levels for multilingual documents
  • Automatic distribution to multiple portals (e.g. Apple Store, Google Play Store)
  • Distribution and continuous updating of the app on mobile end devices via Adobe distribution service
