Changing present work flows and introducing a new software system requires careful planning. As a project manager, you are aware of the fact that professional project management is decisive in determining the success and quality of publishing and software projects in your company.

All responsible divisions in the company have to be involved, the respective staff has to be informed thoroughly and tasks have to be defined clearly and concisely. Only when these basic requirements are met, changes in the work flow can quickly be adapted to new requests and be enhanced in a future-proof way.

Thus crossbase supports you in a multi-stage project process

  • Stage (1): The project begins with one- or two-day workshops to analyse the requirements and the existing organisation. Functional specifications which have been developed cooperatively including time frames and steps, as well as a prototype to point out feasibility are the results of this stage. Depending on the designated scale, this requires 5 -10 days of service.
  • Stage (2): In a next step, a data processing concept is developed. It is to provide a detailed design of the implementation (technology and organisation) and a basis for creating the project schedule. Depending on the scale, this phase takes about 2 or 3 months.
  • Stage (3): The realisation stage comes next. It includes configurating the database, transferring the data and a concluding system test. The realisation takes between 2 or 4 months, depending on the scale.
  • Stage (4): Finally, the introductory stage is concluded by installing the required software tools on the workstation computers, and by training the staff, e.g. "training on the job". Depending on the scale, this phase also takes about 2 or 4 months. Ongoing support is provided by updates, support, hotline and further training and workshops, if required.

According to experience, a project takes between six months and a year. After the first workshop, it will be possible to give reference values for your internal expenses. They heavily depend on existing data sets.

As described above, the approach by crossbase is methodical and pragmatical. Since 1996 the crossbase staff have provided successful and future-proof cross-media projects. This has emerged as the crossbase project methodology, with the help of which conceptions can be developed and implemented very efficiently and purposefully. Promoters of the project benefit from its successive implementation. It is the basis for an efficient and manageable use of resources, ensures quick success and provides confidence.
